Music has touched a lot of people on this lovely lace we call earth and whether its Hip Hop, Pop or RnB, everyone has their own opinion of how the sound should be. When you talk about Hip Hop you talk about the beats, lyrics and the flow or skill rappers use to write. After many years of Hip Hop evolution most are still wondering whether they should follow the old age of Hip Hop or the new age . when I say old age I’m talking about rappers like De la Soul, KRS1, Nas etc. and when I say the new age I’m talking about rappers like Lil Wayne, Drake, Rick Ross etc. the difference between the two is not that far from each other but they are worlds apart.

He now writes lyrics without being conscious of punch lines, similes and such. He says certain things embody you but that’s not the only arsenal he has… don’t worry, you will get all that when his debut album (7:30) drops.

KALAVEE ENT Hip Hop Documentary

This May,South African hip hop gets a very big opportunity to change the game. KALAVEE ENT will be travelling to South Africa mid May to shoot a doccumentary that aims at exposing and promoting mainstream and underground creatives (artists, producers, dancers etc) to the much bigger UK and European markets.
The self- funded project will be spearheaded by the award winning UK based Film Company name VeeartMedia. This doccie will be combining all elements of hip hop in hopes of discovering some new fresh talent.

Article 45: Capable of anything
We capable of many things, yet we somehow choose to ignore everything. We live in a world of opportunities, but all we interested in is material things. We count other people's blessings and forget they are living their lives and we are neglecting ours. We are all blessed with capabilities, unlimited sources of information yet we choose to use them for senseless things. I don't mean to be mean to anyone, but I miss the days when being real was the only real around, when dignity used to be everything. We seem to be sinking into another form of slavery where we judge others on their looks, weight, social status and even social network statuses. Slavery that has blinded most of us into believing we need the approval of others in order to pursue a dream. We use words such as "hate" and "swag" to describe who we are.
We conform to the blindness we see on Tv, hear on radio and spend our time trying to be someone else. Since when was it ok to be compared? Since when did we change our names to sound like we are cool? Since when was immitation the new grattification? Are we so desperate to be liked so much that we judge our importance from Facebook likes? I mean we even follow proudly on social networks and to become a leader you have to break someone else down. I don't write this article to defile, discourage nor judge anyone, I'm simply raising the fact that we are capable of many things
Let's all make a change to get some change. Let's not fight for power, let's rather fight for something that lasts, let's fight for CHANGE because we are CAPABLE.

She goes by the name Mos-D and she is the Lady of Hip Hop decks. She has done lots and lots and lots of sets all over Mzansi, even outside. We caught up with her to find out how she got in this and what her future looks like.

Once again TheNASHmag brings you another form of rare talent in the hood. We always try to challenge ourselves in every cover issue we put out. This week we met up with a graffiti artist who goes by the alias of Asse62. Since you know, for some reason graffiti is an illegal form of art in our country so we are going to protect most of his identity in this article. Asse62 has been in this game for a while and has tagged many a wall. He prides himself in every tag he does and represents true hip hop in his style of painting.

Issue 6: Stan B
Stan B- Repping Soshville to the fullest!!!
He is a Music producer, Sound Engineer and Song Writer and when he’s not being that he’s holding down a 925 and studyin’ at the same damn time! But you and most probably know him as a Rapper. He has produced for the likes of J. Pusher and on most of his own projects. Stan B from Pretoria’s Soshanguve is one of the hustlers in these streets. He dropped “Da Stan B Trill Code 101” in 2009 followed by St Tanic v/s Stan B-Gangbangin’ and a mixtape in 2010 titled “Trappin and in 2011 he dropped “Polarbear Swag Mixtape”. He worked very closely with Obita on tracks like “Abafana Baya Gala” which made it to several radio stations including Yfm, 5fm, Ikwekwezi and UJfm. The video for his current single “Duck Down” ft. Obita which looks proper has been playing on one of the biggest Channels out there; Channel O. Stan is paving way and making the City proud, one achievement at a time.
1. Please give me a brief summary of your musical life
Started my own entertainment company (Stan Producshizzle) in 2005. Studied Digital Music Production and Advanced Music Production with Emendy Music and Sound Technologies College in 2008 and 2009.
2. Why & How did you get into the hip hop scene?
Just like in most cases, it all began with the love for the genre, in middle school we were battling each other using other people's lyrics then as time went on I started writing my own.
3. What struggles have you come across on your way up?
Being independent and unknown, People tend not to take you serious especially with a manager who has no clout.
4. How would you define your sound?
I'd let people define it; I'm just makin' music that everyone can relate to.
5. What do you think of the hip hop scene in Cap City?
It has grown but unity is still lackin'.
6. Which other artist from Pretoria, besides yourself do you think is making moves or we should look out for?
DJ Ize
7. You have been in the game for so long. Do you think you are underrated in Pretoria or you think you are getting the recognition you’ve earned?
Both, but I feel I still need to work harder so that I can get the recognition I deserve.
8. What has been some of your biggest highlights in the game so far?
Being on Shiz Niz, Daily Sun and sharing the stage with my favorite local artist,Pro in bassline.
9. Your music video has recently hit Channel O, please tell more about it
They loving it, I'm getting more airplay than I expected. My first video got rejected due to quality so for them to playlist this one gave me motivation.
10. What are your short and long term targets?
Getting my music on more radio stations and growing my company bigger.
11. Do you think the rap game has changed for the better?
Yes it has, artists are being more equipped with knowledge and knowing their worth as being artists.
12. Besides being a rapper, what else do you do?
[I’m doing that] 925 and Studying.
13. What are you currently busy with that we look out for, from you: mixtape, album, performances, recording?
I'm currently recording singles and producing for other artists.

Just a few words
My inspiration lives within her, she
gives me strength, gives me the
compass, my true North, she the
only one who can make me see reason.
She inspires me to be more focused,
she keeps me happy, holds my hand
when I need someone to pull me through
tough tims. She not only fights with
me but she fights for me. Shes my
lover, the one I converse with
before I can wake up and do anything.
Her soothing voice gives me comfort, her eyes
let me know her emotional state and in those
very eyes I seem to do no rong. She
the only one who sees the good in me
when no one else does. Even though I mess up sometime, she stil has the will to forgive
and love me the same. As far as
blessings go, I think God has sent me one of his angels in the form of her.

Article 41: Chasing dreams is a dream when you young and brown.

Creationism!!
As a young person in South Africa right now, I can say I have the right to basically do anything I put my mind to. I am free to exercise any resource I have at my disposal. I am free to do anything I please as long as it is legal in the eyes of the law. Recently I was engaged in a short conversation with this other girl on one social network, she asked me what I do for a living and I told her. I then asked her what she does and her response was somewhat amusing to me I said “So what do you do” she replies “I go to school at TUT”, and then I asked “what else do you do other than school, any interests in anything?”
The question confused her and she quickly blew it off with the excuse of not having time for anything else in her life but school. Then it suddenly occurred to me why there are so many unemployed youth in this country. I do not mean to sound like a parent or judgmental or anything, but how will you fit into the world after school? How will you know where to start because at school they can’t teach you hustling? I understand that school is a very important tool in order for any of us to succeed. But varsity only takes about 5 hours out of your 24 hour day. How about instead of relying on the basics you get from school for the coming 3 years when you doing your diploma you try to find out more about what you doing? You go out and start something that will be the fall back for you after you’re finished with school? It’s not that hard to learn on the streets because there is only one basic rule “in the land of the blind, the man with one eye is king”.
If you always surround yourself with people who are into the same thing you’re into but still be able to go out with or without them to enjoy yourself, then school becomes a bridge you have to cross in order for society to deem you as potentially successful.
Most people who are very successful are not really influenced by the formalities you have to conform to because it is viewed as acceptable. If you fall into the same pattern as those who came before you then nothing will change. As a young black person in South Africa, making my way in this world I have come to learn that it is not always in education that you find knowledge, it is not always by following the rules that you become successful. Sometimes you just have to break the norm and be vigilant when you do things, you just have to learn to be patient and get at every opportunity you get no matter how small.
You have to respect everyone’s field of work and criticize where you see fault. Complaining is easy but so is succeeding. Chase your dream with the right mindset will most definatley get you where you need to go quicker and the journey will teach you a lot.
Don’t go to school and study and then come back home and sit and hope that your diploma will land you that corner office you so desperately wish for.
Don’t chase a dream that is really a dream. Be proactive and go get your own, time waits for no one.
