Article 48: Prince Charming

Our society today is one that is constantly on the move, everything happens at a touch of a button. We are so used to the idea of having it easy that most times we don't appreciate the effort someone puts into making us happy.

I write this from a perspective of a man, a man that is not rich, tall, handsome and most of all the attributes most women nowadays look for in a man. I'm probably old fashioned but I just cannot seem to get used to the "prince charming" persona created by most women.

See, Prince Charming is that guy you have a one in a million chance of meeting. He's that awkward character you usually over look because he still believes in being modest and doesn't really seek attention. He's that guy you see everyday walking around with a smile and if you go through his Facebook you are not likely to find any pictures of him"turning up". You will most likely find pictures of his interests, his family and if you look closely enough you will see his values.

He is the type of guy that will always try to hold a conversation with you and try to get to know you, he rarely talks about himself because his nature requires him to take care of you before himself. He's that guy who is usually faced with a lot of adversity on a daily basis but always seems to be cheerful. He is God fearing, his ideals are usually misinterpreted by the women he has been with in the past. Prince Charming will not always call or text because most times he's out trying to build himself a future, most likely trying to build his family a future. If you are lucky enough to meet prince charming, he will, in his own way show you just how much he appreciates you. He's not the guy you meet at a club, party or a social gathering of that nature, most times as he prefers to be alone just so he can protect his heart. Prince Charming has been hurt so much because of his gentle nature that it will take time for him to open up and be intimate with you as he has built walls around his heart.

He is the type of guy who will share his deepest feelings, secrets and ambitions with you in his own way. He's the type of guy that'll bring the blanket after he asks you to go out to a picnic. I know by now you probably thinking "but any guy can do that", that is true because all other douchebags use the "prince charming" persona to lure yal. Prince Charming never does anything that benefits just him. He might not be the richest, may not provide as he should but every night he goes to sleep you are the last person he thinks of. Even after doing him wrong, he will forgive you and probably try to fix things and show you the way to go. Prince charming doesn't hold grudges, he's that guy you think is boring, the guy who works his ass off on a daily to ensure happiness for those close to his heart.

He has it in him to make you happy, what prevents most of yal from meeting him is your inability to stop the selfish act of thinking/acting like him having you is a privilege and that deters you from seeing the blessing that he is to you.

Next time you look for prince charming, ask yourself how will you be a blessing to him like you want him to be one to you.
